Intermediate Accountant
CORE JOB ACTIVITIES

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all Canadian and US operating accounts and prepare adjusting entries as required.
Perform general ledger account reconciliations, accurate reporting, and data verification, enabling senior staff to analyze options and make financial decisions aligned with company objectives.
Support timely monthly, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts.
Prepare HST returns, Statistic Canada filings and other statutory fillings.
Assist in providing schedules and commentary with respects to operating maintenance accounts results and variances, and with the production of working capital, cash-flow reports, as well as applicable commentary.
Assist the Accounting Manager with root cause analysis, and process improvements.
Monitor policies and procedures for assigned departments and identify and suggest improvements for accounting reporting and recording procedures.
Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Liaise between the Company and external auditors.
Prepare ad hoc financial reports as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of a related post-secondary degree (Accounting, Business, Commerce, etc.). While not essential, working towards accounting designation is preferred.
3-5 years of experience in accounting.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (creating Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups).
ERP experience (Sage 300 preferred).
Team player, great attitude, and collaborative.
Good analytical, task, and detail-oriented skills.
Good problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify and resolve problems while gathering and analyzing information.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Resourceful, able to work independently.
Willingness to work overtime as required.
