ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
Summit Trailer (Edmonton, AB)

Summit Trailer Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated team player to work as an Assistant Controller in our Edmonton office. This is a key role that oversees the accounting functions of multiple operating branches serving the transportation resource industries. The successful candidate will be responsible to produce consolidated trial balances on a monthly basis, which may expand based on company needs. This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller and provides daily leadership to two clerical positions.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Responsibilities:

• Assist with directing accounting clerical staff
• Daily Bank Reconciliation and Reporting
• Payroll & Benefit Administration
• Journal entry and working paper production, maintenance and review
• Manage month end processes
• Trial balance preparation
• Year-end audit assistance
• Annual budget preparation assistance
• Ad-hoc reporting and analysis
• Other duties as assigned by the Controller

Ideal qualifications:

• Accounting Diploma or actively enrolled in a Canadian Professional Accounting Program preferred
• 3+ years of related accounting experience. Practical experience will be heavily weighted
• Full cycle accounting knowledge is required
• Prior large equipment sales and service experience an asset
• Strong Excel skills
• Ability to assess and recommend efficiencies to current processes
• Detail oriented, organized and has the ability to handle multiple tasks
• Initiative to learn and take on new responsibilities
• Must take responsibility and ownership for position
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
