The Business Planning and Support Branch within the Integrated Infrastructure Services (IIS) department is looking for a Strategic Coordinator who will work closely with the Branch Manager to help drive objectives, set strategy, and navigate deliverables.
The Branch’s mandate is to enhance the strategic management of the Department so that capital projects are delivered efficiently and effectively. This includes services that support project managers in doing their jobs through technical engineering advice, capital project set-up and payments, survey and inspection, and project management tools, processes and systems. In addition, the Branch also works with the Department’s leadership to set priorities, monitor Department performance, and implement improvements. You will be responsible to:
Work collaboratively across organizational lines to develop and facilitate effective solutions for content and process problems, including branch strategic plans, budget development, performance measures, etc.
Lead and manage key projects successfully for time, quality, and budget in support of branch initiatives and goals that have cross branch impacts or may be politically sensitive
Be a strategic thinker in terms of identifying issues, planning, implementing, and evaluating expected outcomes
Interact with all levels of the Corporation and/or external stakeholders and be able to foster relationships and prioritize deliverables
Be the first point of contact on all branch leadership reports, reviewing for content and completeness, editing, and providing direction to staff in their preparation
Drive change in order to support strategy, while utilizing your influencing and conflict resolution skills
Navigate in an environment that has multiple nuances, including political and economic
Be an effective and efficient time manager in a dynamic environment based on competing urgent, long term, and important work demands
Qualifications :
University degree in Commerce, Public Administration, Political Science or a related discipline
A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in a variety of strategic and management roles; experience working in the public sector is an asset
Ability to work effectively with senior management positions across various departments including Council
Knowledge and experience in project management processes and project administration; ability to manage multiple projects is required
Proven knowledge and experience in business strategic planning approaches and implementation
Sound judgement and strategic thinking skills, and the ability to anticipate needs and develop creative solutions. A future focused and proactive approach is required
Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across multiple levels of an organization. Skill in negotiation and the ability to influence key decision makers
Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging and high-demand environment, in a proactive, self-directed, and motivated manner with minimal direction
Exemplary interpersonal skills and a diplomatic approach
Ability to analyze information and problem solve effectively
Ability to effectively transfer ideas, concepts and information into effective and efficient strategies
Excellent communication, time management, organizational, and leadership skills
Management and Out-of-Scope positions at the City of Edmonton are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the Civic Service Union 52 bargaining unit. If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly.

Hours of Work:
36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Additional hours may be required
Salary:
$72,249 - $103,208 (Annually)
