Senior Accountant - Toronto

Responsibilities:
Develop best practises from ground up
Implement policies and procedures for finance department
Develop reporting, forecasting and year end structure
Develop executive reporting and able to articulate financial details and findings
Able to manage reports and present findings to executives
Experience with auditing of finance data and manipulation of data to conclude opportunities
As the finance team grows, mentor employee and their objections within AP & AR roles
Oversee all accounting-relating activities and cycle, including accounts receivables/payables
Monitor the companies current financial direction, policies, accounting practices, as well as relationships with lending institutions and the financial community
Maintain general ledger and entries; perform reconciliations
Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting
Cash management analysis
Prepare trial balances as necessary

Skills and Qualifications:
CPA Designation is required

Able to work onsite in Toronto, as this is a startup division
Proven track record in managing the finance/accounting operation, including: five (5) years proven experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
Strong, professional communication skills (verbally and written)
Proven track record in right-sizing a finance department
Operational mindset and understand of Finance and how it relates to overall operations
Experience leading employees within the finance area
Strong attention to detail, organized and strategic
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Sound understanding of audit process methodology
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Self-motivated and driven with a passion for excellence in a fast-paced environment
