New Grad Engineers/Scientists - Toronto
Ballard’s Technology and Product Development group has exciting opportunities for New Grad Engineers/Scientists at our Burnaby BC headquarters. As an Engineer/Scientist in our research and product development teams, you may be working in a number of key technical disciplines including: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, electrochemistry, and modeling. If you are a highly motivated individual who enjoys the challenge of a fast-paced environment and the satisfaction of taking an idea from concept into production, we want to hear from you!
The Ideal Candidate:
A recent Bachelor, Master or PhD graduate in Applied Sciences or Sciences. Preferably Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics or Chemistry
Fuel Cell or related Engineering program with 0 -1 year of related experience (co-op experience is great)
Proven ability to work quickly and reliably while under pressure
A passion for fuel cells and clean energy
Responsibilities may include:
Work effectively within a team of scientists and engineers to accomplish technical objectives
Build, operate, and troubleshoot ex-situ and in-situ experimental tools for materials and design concepts evaluation
Operate fuel cell test stations, and analyze and interpret test data
Support and contribute to fuel cell product development engineering design activities for new products or product improvements, including: design requirement documentation, development of design specifications, and design development, including the use of appropriate modeling tools
Collaborate cross-functionally with Research, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering
Collaborate with machine shops, fabricators and suppliers to ensure parts will meet functional requirements and aggressive timelines
Based on qualifications, aptitude and interest, candidates may be placed in any of the following groups and teams:
Research (incl. Electrochemistry, Membrane, Characterization-Prototyping and Methods Development)
MEA & Stack Materials (incl. Materials Engineering, Process Engineering, Failure Analysis, Modeling)
Stack Engineering (incl. Develop unit cells and hardware, test component)
Stack Test Engineering (incl. Operate and test fuel cell stacks, test development, and validate designs)
Systems Engineering (incl. System Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Controls, Applications Engineering)
Product Development Services (incl. Design Services, Configuration, Reliability, Codes and Standards)
Technology Solutions (Incl. Help customers solve technical and business challenges in their fuel cell and electrolyzer programs)
