CAD IT System Administrator - Toronto

CMC Microsystems is seeking a CAD IT System Administrator

(Full-time continuing position, Ottawa or Montreal office)

The CAD IT System Administrator plays a crucial role in the successful operation of the CAD line of business at CMC. Reporting to the Manager of the CAD Business Unit, this position is a key member of the team responsible for the effective deployment of CAD software needed by researchers and companies across Canada.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Working in interdisciplinary teams and with CMC customers the successful candidate will be able to discuss issues and solutions directly with customers and as needed, travel to customer sites. General Responsibilities

Collaborate with new and existing customers to identify challenges and recommend solutions
Travel to customer sites for effective long-term service delivery and support
Troubleshoot issues and outages and provide guidance on pro-active prevention of service interruption
Readily develop expertise to be trained or train others on effective use of new technologies
Respond to incoming requests from both CMC staff and customers
Support a hybrid cloud environment with servers in the datacenter and public cloud
Support IT environment for both internal CMC operations as well as customer facing services
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements provided by CAD and technology suppliers
Ensure security is built into all activities
Skill Requirements

Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms with a heavy emphasis on Linux
Extensive experience working with private / public cloud virtualization with an emphasis on delivering client services from the public cloud
Proven experience as a system administrator, network administrator, or similar role preferably in a CAD software environment
Knowledge of system security for back-end systems and client systems
Ability to create scripts in Python, and Linux shell scripting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Fluency in French considered an asset
University-level education in information technology, computer science, engineering or a related discipline
3 to 5 years of working experience
Professional certifications on public cloud deployment considered an asset
