MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE REQUIRED IN TORONTO

UHN Foundation raises funds for research, education and the enhancement of patient care at Toronto General and Toronto Western Hospitals, Toronto Rehab as well as their respective research arms (Krembil Research Institute, McEwen Stem Cell Institute, Toronto General Hospital Research Institute and KITE) and the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. The Hospitals and the Research Institutes are part of University Health Network (UHN), which also includes Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

UHN Foundation is currently seeking a Marketing & Communications Associate to support Foundation-wide marketing and communications activities, with a particular focus on digital content and the Stewardship and Events portfolios. The Marketing & Communications Associate reports to the Director, Brand Marketing.

Duties and responsibilities

Marketing and communications:

Provide marketing and communications support on a daily basis for a wide variety of projects including print collateral, signage, digital content, advertising and other special programs
Play an active role in developing editorial content for website and eNews
Work closely with Stewardship and Events (and other fundraising teams as required) to execute special projects
Support in planning, developing and implementing integrated marketing and communications campaigns and programs (internal and external) to support fundraising efforts
Provide strategic and creative input on a wide range of projects
Liaise with Foundation resources (e.g., design, digital), hospital resources
(e.g., Public Affairs) as well as external suppliers as required for project execution
Copywriting, editing and proofreading for print and digital formats

Brand management:

Work within Foundation brand and writing style guidelines
Champion the brand, ensuring quality and consistency in every touchpoint

Project management and administration:

Manage the VP, Marketing, Communications & Community Giving’s calendar
Administrative tasks such as team meeting scheduling and co-ordination, meeting minutes, document prep, invoice management, etc. as required
Co-ordinate and manage project resources, timelines and budgets
Co-ordinate photography and video shoots as required
Print co-ordination and supplier management as required

Requirements

Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, communications, journalism, media relations or similar
Minimum three years of experience in a marketing and communications role
(non-profit or healthcare experience preferred but not mandatory)
Understanding of marketing and communications principles, strategies and tactics
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including for digital channels
Self-starter with strong organizational and admin skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-and results-oriented environment
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
Meticulous with a commitment to superior quality; thorough knowledge of Canadian Press and Globe & Mail styles an asset
Excellent skills in applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Adobe Creative Cloud experience is an asset
Experience in managing video projects an asset
Print production/print co-ordination experience an asset

Work environment

Busy service- and results-oriented environment
Regular daily hours of work, with occasional extra hours as required

Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues in all positions throughout the Foundation
