Cost Accountant

Key Responsibilities

Review and approve cost entries in ERP system;

Analyze production costs (labour, materials, etc.) to ensure accurate product costing;

Develop and maintain labour, overhead rate calculations;

Prepare and review cost variance analyses, identifying and investigating variances to provide insights and recommendations corrective actions;

Analyze and make recommendations for cost savings on outbound transportation;

Prepare standard recurring reports and ad hoc reports/financial analysis as required to support decision making;

Develop cost estimates for new products;

Conduct regular inventory audits to verify accuracy and compliance with company policies;

Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and the annual financial plan, providing updated cost forecasts as required;

Develop, document and implement cost accounting procedures and policies;

Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Qualifications

Post secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline;

Completion of CMA designation/actively working towards CPA designation an asset;

3+ years' experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment;

Prior ERP Implementation Experience Preferred.

Strong organizational skills and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks with an appropriate sense of urgency;

Strong verbal and written communication skills;

Ability to work independently and cooperatively with team members and other departments;

Proficient in MS Office with intermediate-advanced Excel skills;

Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems.
