Job Description:Tenure - Full Time, Ongoing Location - Guelph, ON (Hybrid) Hours - Day Shift, Weekdays The Accounting Assistant is a critical member of the Financial Operations Team and is responsible for the accounts payable function for various segments of the company. The primary directive of the Accounting Assistant is to perform accounting and clerical tasks for the maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions. Key Responsibilities:Posting invoices, processing invoice payments, and performing reconciliations of accounts payable transactionsResolving invoice discrepancies and issues by communicating with vendors and/or assigned departmental associatesAssisting with the period end close process (e.g. AP subledger closes, intercompany transactions)Tracking associate expenses and processing associate expense reportsProviding key reporting to internal constituents (e.g. DPO reporting) using tools such as PowerBI and company's AnalyticsLeading essential associate training for best practices around procure-to-pay processesParticipating in financial system core versioning testing to facilitate the global rollout of new functionalities Context and ScopePartners with the Financial Operations Team to deliver world class Procure to Pay processesWorks with the FP&A Team as well as the Global In-House Bank TeamConnects with other Mars entities across the globe to ensure consistency in financial delivery Education & Professional Qualifications2+ years of accounts payable experience with a focus on vendor supportMinimum high school diploma required Knowledge / ExperienceKnowledge of accounting standards and practices Key Functional Competencies & Technical SkillsDemonstrated track record of working across an organization to deliver work on time and with high qualityAbility to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholdersStrong understanding of Excel and financial systems skills including Microsoft Office; Microsoft Navision experience is an assetBasic accounting knowledge (e.g. accrued liabilities, operating expenses)Self-starter with the ability to perform duties independently; must be able to work in a team environmentAble to meet deadlines, work in a fast paced environment and multi-task
