Senior Accountant
POSITION DETAILS:
Reporting to the Controller, this role will be responsible for ensuring the accurate processing of invoices, expense report and other payment requests regarding clients, internal staff and appraisers; provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports. The position will be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures by performing the following duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
• Processing of accounts transactions and verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
• Prepare batches of invoices for data entry
• Resolving account issues with clients and internal staff
• Reconciliations of inter-company accounts, general ledger accounts etc; reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
• Perform relevant accounting functions including review/maintenance of the accounts payable/receivable sub-ledger, and general ledger accounts, and project accounting; ensures accuracy and timeliness
• Maintain Prepaid, Accrual schedules and fixed assets where needed
• Prepare and assist with government remittances to meet required deadlines in different financial jurisdiction
• Assist with intercompany transactions month end and year end reporting
• Assist with bank reconciliations, month end journal entries and balance sheet accounts reconciliations
• Active involvement with cash flow preparation, and preparation and monitoring of budgets with in-depth analytics of expense variances to budget
• Active involvement with year-end audit & tax schedules for different tax jurisdiction
• Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all organizational policies including but not limited to, data, security and health & safety polices
• Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in accounting
• CGA or CA accreditation/designation with 5+ years’ experience
• Minimum two years’ experience working in a privately held organization
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theories and practices
• Comprehensive knowledge of municipality accounting regulations as determined by the government
• 5+ years related work experience which includes experience in accounting best practices, analytical review and financial analysis and reporting
• Advanced skills and experience with ERP systems required (Sage 300/ACCPAC)
• Knowledge of accounting terminology and using spreadsheets and/or automated accounting systems
• Proven expert level Excel skills
