Senior Accountant
Reporting to the Manager of Revenue and Receivables, this position has day to day responsibility for all aspects of the financial and accounting services performed at the Moose Jaw Campus Accounting Office. This includes providing leadership, guidance, training, and support, and team cohesion to a group of campus Accounts Receivable Clerks.
1. Provide senior level financial expertise and support to aid management in planning, evaluating and controlling Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s resources.
2. Plan, organize, delegate, and supervise the work of the Moose Jaw Campus Accounts Receivable staff.
3. Participate in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of Accounts Receivable staff and provide assistance in training, evaluation and discipline.
4. Participate in Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s month-end and year-end processes and procedures.
5. Participate in the maintenance and development of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic-wide Accounts Receivable system; including the testing of new computer tool upgrades.
6. Participate in the development of process, procedures and policies for Saskatchewan Polytechnic Accounts Receivables.
7. Provide Accounts Receivable advice and professional service to all internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
1. Completion of Professional Accounting designation i.e. CMA, CGA or CA or currently enrolled and successful completion within 2 years.
2. Minimum two years experience within the last five years applying accounting and financial theory, practice and procedures in a supervisory role.
3. Advanced computer skills including training or experience with computerized financial spreadsheets, accounting software, online computer systems and the ability to provide assistance in system development.
4. Training and experience in a diversified financial setting with increasing levels of responsibility.
5. Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating and fiscal management principles and procedures.
6. Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to prioritize and schedule multiple work assignments.
7. Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) and customer services skills.
8. Ability to function independently and co-operatively in a team environment.
9. Ability to think critically, analyze complex problems with high attention to detail, make decisions and make recommendations.
10. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
