The Lease Operator Payables Clerk is part of Westcan’s Accounting Group at our Edmonton Head Office. Our work environment is fast paced and we’re often challenged with tight deadlines, so an ability to work under pressure is important to be successful in this role. This position reports to the Assistant Controller and is a great opportunity for a detail oriented Accounting Clerk looking to broaden their experience.
The successful candidate would be required to work a modified shift schedule (4 days on, 3 days off including one day on the weekend).
About the position:
Verifying completeness of Lease Operator and Carrier Onboarding Packages
Processing payment for Lease Operators and Carriers in accordance with payment schedule
Verifying, calculating and inputting Lease Operator and Carrier Deductions
Verifying and computing Lease Operator and Carrier Earnings
Calculating variances and ratios to assess reasonability of lease operator and carrier pay
Producing month end reports for distribution
Administering other duties as required
What you bring:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar role with high volumes of data processing
A diploma in accounting and/ or knowledge of the transportation industry would be considered an asset
Ability to multitask and communicate effectively, both verbal and written
Ability to maintain a positive and flexible approach under pressure
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with and willingness to use Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and logical thinking
Well organized, detail oriented, with a roll up your sleeves attitude towards work
Previous payables experience and knowledge of the transportation industry is an asset
Systems experience including Great Plains accounting software and the TMW System is an asset
