Shane Homes Group of Companies, a leading residential production home builder, constructing quality new homes in premier communities since 1979 has an opportunity for a Junior Accountant to join it’s Accounting Team.

Position Overview:

As a Junior Accountant, you will support the Intermediate and Senior accountants in the daily tasks required for the full-cycle accounting month to month which will support the organizational goal of accurate and timely financial statement preparation for the Multi-Family and Land Divisions in the Shane Homes Group of Companies.

What you will be responsible for:

Prepare reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts monthly.
Completing monthly bookkeeping for assigned entities.
Prepare monthly GST filings for assigned corporations.
Preparing daily cash receipts for deposit into the corporate bank accounts.
Participate in departmental cross training to ensure sufficient vacation coverage in the accounting department.
Prepare technical memo’s on accounting issues for review by the Controller.
Develop technical skills in areas such as finance and performance management
Develop and apply knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE) and REALPAC

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in commerce of business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred)
Completion of prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)
Experience working with Sage 300 is considered an asset
Self starter who utilizes their technical knowledge to apply judgement to work scenarios.
Open to learning and growth for advancement through the Company.
Team player with the ability to work in a collaborative manner
