Corporate Accountant
Job Duties

Accountable for all aspects of Store Real Estate, including monthly rent/lease adjustments, accruals, reconciliations, reporting, calculation, CAM reconciliations and payment of store rents. Also encompasses responding to landlord inquiries, issuing certified sales letters, and maintaining the SPACE store rent system.
Assist with set-up of all leases and validation of lease data and attributes
Record monthly lease journal entries and complete account reconciliations for month end close as well as monthly reforecasting.
Initiate lease payments and ensure they are processed in an accurate and timely manner
Ensure accuracy with store and Head Office inventory by addressing, shipment acknowledgements, processing manual inventory adjustments and store inventory counts.
Support the Corporate Controller with month-end journal entries, and data analysis.
Prepare variance analysis and investigate discrepancies.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages
Assist with the bank and year-end audits along with the annual budget preparation
Act as back up support to other accounting functions such as Cash Management and Accounts Payable.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business (Accounting/Finance) or related area
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal control requirements required
Minimum of 2-3 years in Accounting with experience in financial reporting, real estate adjustment/reporting, forecasting and financial analysis
Experience with lease administration database systems and accounting systems an asset
Accounting experience in a retail environment is an asset
Sound knowledge and experience with computerized accounting systems
Excellent working knowledge of MS Office, MS Access, and advanced skills in Excel
Good level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to multi-task, prioritize and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
A team player who is accountable, adaptable to changing parameters, has a drive for results attitude and values working in a collaborative environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
