About the Opportunity

Currently, Civeo is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Construction Manager to join our team and work on multiple projects at our different sites across BC and AB. This role will entail working a rotating shift of either 14 or 21 days on and then 7 days off. While you can be based out of one of our sites you must be willing to transit and work at any of our sites across BC and AB during your rotation. This is a 1-year term, full-time position with the opportunity for extension.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, as our new Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overall daily site construction operations within the assigned geographical area and project. You will also manage the activities of construction trades and sub-contractors involved in the installation of transportable, modular industrial accommodations, and other types of factory-built structures.

More specifically your responsibilities in this role will include:

Supervising the activities of the construction crew and ensuring compliance with the OHSE and labour legislation.
Supervising construction activities to ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and procedures.
Conducting Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs) as well as taking a leading role in daily safety meetings and preparing Job Safety Analyses (JSA) with the safety and construction teams.
Working with the safety team to conduct hazard assessments including providing input for Safe Work Procedures and Safe Work Practices (SWPs)
Providing support to the Senior Project Manager in developing and managing the operational budget and ensuring that established performance targets such as financial, quality, safety, and labour metrics are all achieved.
Reviewing the scope of work.
Planning the daily work of the construction team.
Controlling access to the job site.
Ensuring construction cost control, which includes organizing the worksite, in order to minimize the risk of loss or damage.
Ensuring that projects meet or exceed project specifications and the QA/QC standards by managing quality assurance programs and developing reporting procedures designed to ensure that products and services are consistent with established standards.
Conducting workforce planning and approving all new hires and overseeing employee training.
Acting as a resource and business knowledge centre for field Supervisors, Foremen, and all trades.
Motivating workers to achieve a high performance by delivering results while acting with ethics and integrity.
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible construction management experience in industrial, residential, or commercial construction along with a journeyperson certification in a related construction trade. You will also need relevant industry safety tickets and supervisory training. Previous modular construction experience is a great asset.

As our ideal candidate, you'll be eager to hit the ground running in this role as you use both your practical knowledge and your ability to motivate a team to complete the projects you're working on. You'll utilize your excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form to rally the team around you and make an impact on their productivity. Your knowledge of local and provincial building codes, OHSE, and other relevant legislation will make you an excellent role model as well as ensuring that you can support the team in any role when they need it. This role will suit you perfectly if you want to lead a team to success while still remaining hands-on with the work that you do.

Please note that a valid drivers license and a clean 5-year non-commercial driver's abstract is also required for this role.
