Senior Accountant
Key Accountabilities:

Performs period-end and year-end close processes.
Prepares and posts journal entries including accruals, depreciation, and prepaids.
Reconciles general ledger accounts and decides on appropriate course of action to resolve differences on account reconciliations.
Reviews and performs variance analysis and provides support and recommendations to Leaders on necessary actions required.
Assists with resolving discrepancies.
Performs day-to-day accounting and reporting functions.
Maintains subledger accounts.
Reviews and completes government remittances with applicable government agencies.
Responds to inquiries from external auditors and Team Members in other parts of the organization.
Prepares budget analysis as required.
Assists with preparation of period-end reports.
Works with leaders and Team Members in other departments to implement new and improved processes.
Assists with interim and year end audits by preparing working papers and responding to auditor inquires.
Represents the Accounting team on project work as required.
Performs ad hoc financial analysis as required.
Assists accounts payable and accounts receivable teams with questions (GL coding, taxes, etc) and assists with balancing subledger to GL as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Post-secondary education in related field
Enrolled in CPA program. CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA) would be an asset.
3-5 years related experience in full cycle accounting.
Suitable combination of education and experience would be considered.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Self-motivated with a high degree of accuracy, strong critical thinking skills, and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
