Regional Account Manager (RAM) - Toronto
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Regional Account Manager (RAM) is responsible for contributing to sales growth of the region through new customer acquisition, customer retention and growth opportunities with current customer base. Ensuring the success of the Company’s marketing and business development strategy in the Canadian region while directly managing the field operations staff of Service Route Manager(s) (SRM). The RAM will be in contact daily with current and prospective customers, managing opportunity and up-selling current accounts. Additionally, this position will solicit new business opportunities in Western Canada by contacting prospective customers via email and phone. RAM responsibilities include: enhancing existing client relationships; developing new business opportunities; onboarding of new customers, supervising and developing subordinates; developing policies or practices to improve program efficiencies; contributing to operational and marketing strategies; budget development and analysis, SmartData reporting, logistics and inventory management within region, and reporting results to division management. This position is subject to general supervision and requires the regular use of independent judgment and discretion.
Duties and Primary Responsibilities:
• Review and assess battery business to measure and address productivity or goal achievement
• Identify and resolve specific issues related to inventory management practices, sales performance, warranty administration, driver training and/or performance management
• Responsible for hiring, training, performance management, direction, and supervision of direct report, Service Route Managers, Sales Route Trainers and Sales Route Representatives
• Responsible for meeting sales budget
• Identify, deliver and implement strategic projects
• Analyzes and measures the effectiveness of existing business processes and develops sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process improvements in customer experience, health & safety, operations and administrative functions
• Create and implement policies and procedures for sales route activities and operations management activities specific to assigned territory or region
• Monitor and direct day-to-day management and associate activities to ensure that they are in alignment with the location safety strategy
• Develop and implement best practices in inventory management and program management at client sites in assigned territory or region
• Engage regularly with customer management teams, wholesale sales, and corporate staff to identify cost efficiencies and business development opportunities
• Working across departments to ensure customers’ needs are met in all areas including A/R, new product development (R&D, compliance, purchasing), blending, production, fulfillment, shipping and creative
• Execution of CAA Battery Program Business Plans & Project Plans
• Predict future market trends and develop new sales ideas
• Manage and facilitate all facets of supply management activities between business units
• Battery deliveries as required in peak volume periods
• Strong understanding of route truck compliance, CVOR, weight, and safety
• Travel throughout territory (British Columbia & Alberta) 40-50% (Canada) 10% (U.S) 5% with overnight stays as required
• Perform other duties as required
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree – Business Administration or related discipline
• 5+ year of Sales/Account Management experience preferably in the automotive industry
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client support, including client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction
• Strong presentation development and delivery skills required
• Ability to analyze and interpret data – leverage to develop performance strategies
• Will lead projects and/or project teams in initiation, planning, execution and control of smaller, mid-level complexity projects
• Manage project scope, time, cost, quality, staff, risk, procurement, integration and communication
• Handle project coordination and/or responsibility for distinct deliverables across multiple projects
• Experienced in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Implementation skills; ability to identify, schedule and complete tasks independently
• Professional demeanor and high ethical standard
• Strong decision-making / judgement skills; solution-oriented
• Solid organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines and keep appointments on time
• Valid Passport
Preferred Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
• Project Management discipline considered an asset
Physical and other Requirements:
• Stand, walk, and sit at a desk.
• Ability to lift/carry 30-45 lbs. at a time
• Type and communicate via office equipment including telephone and email.
• Ability to drive and travel by air.
