General Accountant
Responsibilities

Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, including preparation of journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, and manage the process of payables and receivables.
Ensure the accuracy and reliability (completeness) of the financial information in the GL.
Support the financial reporting function with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis and reporting.
Maintain the weekly Cash Flow Forecast and provide support for the Quarterly Cash Flow Forecast to Calian.
Provide training, support, and indirect supervision of the Accounts Payable function, including the review and posting of all AP transactions.
Approve and process the weekly vendor payments in accordance with the Cash Flow fcst.
Prepare monthly government remittances (Corp Tax, HST, QST)
Assure timely processing of the bi-weekly payroll and pay related issues for all salaried and hourly employees, including the tracking of billable hours.
Assure the timely processing of year-end employee tax forms.
Support the customer billing function by maintaining customer contract information and updating / verifying the monthly invoice schedule (OPS/FIN Program List)
Assure the timely preparation and submission of customer invoices.
Maintain proactive relationships with clients to ensure smooth collection of invoices, verifying and resolving any client billing issues.
Process cash receipts, monitor customer accounts and follow up on delinquent payments.
Manage internal controls over processes and financial reporting
Recommend improvements for gathering, summarizing and reporting financial information
Assist with compliance audits and reviews
Prepare Adhoc reports as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience and enrolled in the CPA program.
Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and accounting packages and databases
Results oriented
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with personnel, clients and partners
