We are looking to hire an experienced finance professional to fill the role of Financial Controller taking primary leadership of the Finance department. Reporting directly to the President, the successful candidate to this position must possess a robust set of financial knowledge, experience, and technological integration skills. They should also possess the ability to work autonomously as well as with various departments simultaneously. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in enhancing the financial functionality of a small-to-medium-sized organization.The RoleThe person hired in this role will work on establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting. This person will be an integral part of the Management team reporting to the President. The successful candidate is a self-starter who thrives on finding technological financial solutions that are aligned with the principles of a small business.Overarching duties and responsibilities:* Primarily responsible for maintaining proper books by ensuring that all transactions are booked accurately and in a timely basis, all month end and quarter end reconciliations are done and variances researched and resolved.* Collaborate interdepartmentally to make user friendly financial policies and processes.* Manage accounts payable function by ensuring that all payments to suppliers are correctly made on time and discounts availed. All expenses are coded and recorded correctly. Prepare month end & year end accruals.* All customer accounts are reconciled on a weekly basis.* Monthly cash flow reporting or as required.* Provide support as required to department team members; including accounts payable and receivable.* Ensure all Federal & Provisional tax payments and monthly HST returns are made on time.* Manage accounts payable, invoicing & timely supplier payments.* Maintain financial security be adhering to internal controls and signing authorities.* Maintain and update internal control documentation.* Recommend policy and procedure changes to increase efficiency within the department; extending organizationally.* Any other duties as assignedSkills & Experience Required * 5+ years progressive accounting experience* Intermediate to Advanced experience with QuickBooks; knowledge of online QuickBooks and associated apps * Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint* Ability to work with multiple departments* Manage multiple projects concurrently* Intermediate knowledge of foreign currency* Budget and planning experience* Purchase order experience* Strong communication skills* An accounting designation is ideal* Specified accounting education* Experience working within small business* Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks under tight time frames* Positive, collaborative, team playerWe value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified people to apply.
