Hays Specialist Recruitment has teamed up with a large Utility company in Calgary, AB. This client is seeking a Financial Systems Accountant to join their team for 3-6 months contract, with the potential to extend.

Your new responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Manager Operational Accounting, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and required updates to financial systems, including SAP. This position will support the finance team and various business areas with ongoing financial system requirements, such us SAP and Power of BI (business intelligence)
Responsible for the analysis of processes to create efficiencies and enhance financial and business processes through automation using existing tools, including but not limited to SAP.
Set up, test, monitor and maintain automated workflows to ensure business processes function at optimum efficiency.
Develop and support the implementation of robotic process automation (RPA) solutions.
Set up and maintenance of master records in SAP.
Provide support and training in all financial modules of SAP to various business areas.

What you need to succeed:

Bachelors Degree in Finance, Commerce or Business Administration AND a Designation (CPA, CA, ACCA)
Advanced proficiency working with SAP
Demonstrated working knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures, preferably US GAAP.
Ability to identify process improvements, present and collaborate solutions with internal stakeholders.
Solid analytical skills to perform independent analysis with attention to detail
