Corporate Accountant
Responsibilities:

Lead the consolidation process for multiple entities and direct the preparation of the financial reports and accounting statements.
Prepare and/or review various monthly and consolidation journal entries, ensuring proper ASPE is applied and timelines meet established channel and corporate reporting requirements.
Ensure preparation, approval, and review of monthly account reconciliations to ensure integrity of the general ledger.
Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations to ensure accurate reporting of financial results at the consolidated level.
Collaborate with finance or cross-functional teams across departments and regions to gather financial data, resolve discrepancies, and address accounting issues.
Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management to support decision-making, strategic planning, and business initiatives.
Provide cash flow analysis and forecasting, overall review of cash transactions, and manage bank transactional relationships.
Prepare budgeting documents, analysis of monthly financial results to budgets, and forecasts to enable the Metrie’s leaders to understand their business.
Support year end audit process by responding to auditors’ inquiries and prepare appropriate working papers and supporting schedules.
Coordinate and support regulatory audits including sales & use tax, property tax, federal and state tax audits.
Provide accounting support to new acquisitions and ensure proper accounting of acquisition upon consolidation.
Coordinate valuations with external service providers to ensure reports and analysis are performed and received in a timely manner.
Develop training and/or process documentation for the Finance team.
Provide mentorship and direction to Corporate and Junior Accountants to ensure the overall quality of work within the CR team.
Contribute to a high-performing, highly engaged and diverse Corporate Reporting team.
Perform other ad hoc duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree, certificate or diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or related field required.
CA, CGA or CMA or other recognized accounting designation required.
5-7 years previous accounting experience required, preferably in a fast-paced accounting team.
Previous experience leading or mentoring other accounting professionals, or managing quality and service in a finance team, required.
Previous experience preparing Canadian and/or US tax returns required.
Previous experience managing accounting functions, such as AR, Collections, Accounts Payable, or related activities a distinct asset.
Experience developing or documenting accounting practices or processes, or developing training or guidance documents, a strong asset.
Previous experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP, would be a strong asset.
Previous manufacturing or distribution experience an asset.
Intermediate to advanced skills using MS Excel and solid skills in MS Office.
Strong communication skills, ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and comfort with multiple deadlines.
Strong desire to learn new skills, improve processes, and continually develop existing skills and strengths.
