Scorpio Masonry is a busy masonry company with over 30 years of experience in the industry. We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Project Coordinator and Estimator.

As a masonry contractor we install brick, block and stone on a variety of commercial, residential and industrial projects. We are currently working on several large projects in and around Edmonton. We recently expanded into the Vancouver market, and our head office is located in Edmonton where we have been operating for over 30 years and specialize in technical historical restoration and stone panel projects.

Job Description:
At Scorpio Masonry, the estimating and coordination roles are integrated. Project Coordinator/Estimators will gain experience in all aspects of a project, from reviewing drawings and tender documents to submit bids, to managing projects from start up through completion. They are responsible for performing detailed take-offs and estimates, and will work with General Contractors and our Site Superintendent to ensure project success.
Project Coordinator/Estimators have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of challenging and rewarding masonry projects. These projects vary in size and type, and include projects ranging from new commercial buildings to interesting restoration projects.
This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate of the CET or Architectural Technology Program to gain valuable experience in estimating and project management. BIM and/or REVIT experience is a valuable asset.

Estimating Duties:
- Conduct site visits and gather information to provide quotes
- Calculate applicable labour, material and equipment costs for bids
- Quantity/material takeoffs
- General square foot takeoffs
- Review estimates for accuracy

Project Coordination Duties:
- Compliance preparation
- Planning and scheduling
- Cost control
- Communication
- Shop drawing review and preparation
- Safety planning

Skills, Abilities and Experience:
- Estimating and/or project coordination experience in masonry is preferred
- BIM/Revit experience is necessary
- Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control
- An understanding of project management processes and systems
- The ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- The ability to plan, develop and monitor project schedules
- A basic understanding of Canadian Construction Contract law and lien legislation
- Build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with General Contractors and other project stakeholders
- The ability to effectively manage multiple tasks on concurrently running projects
- Ability to complete projects on time and on budget
- Self-motivated worker who works effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with others in a team environment
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills

Training/Education
- A Construction Engineering Technology Diploma or Architectural Technology Diploma or a post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering, or the equivalent of a Technical School graduate in a construction related discipline.
- BIM and/or REVIT experience is an asset
- Estimating experience in masonry and/or experience using Tradesman Software is an asset
